Future Scope for Jobs in Horticulture, Animal Feed

Horticulture is one of the main streams of agriculture and the term “Horticulture” is derived from the Latin ‘hortus’ ‘ garden’ and culture - cultivation, which means garden cultivation. The production of fruits, vegetable, nuts and ornamentals are all part of jobs in Horticulture. It provides a wide variety of jobs for many categories of people, directly or indirectly. A large number of jobs require knowledge and training in horticulture and the level of training could be vocational or at the college level. People interested in jobs in horticulture can take up course or training for Scientist, District Horticulture Officer, Farm Supervisor, Agriculture development Officer and many more.

Animal feed is divided into many divisions like Compound feed, Fodder and Forage feed. Compound feed is commercial pellet form food produced in a feed mill that is fed to domestic livestock, while fodder is food given to domestic livestock that includes plants that are cut and taken to the livestock and forage is growing plants that is eaten by the livestock. The field of Animal has diversified into many specializations and jobs can be taken up under different divisions like Ranch Manager, Director of Nutrition, Feed Operations Manager, Feed Production Manager and Sales and marketing of Animal feed also has enormous scope for jobs.
